Waste Policies and Practices

Clear Garbage Bags

All household garbage must be in a clear bag or open container so waste is visible and easily identified. This ensures recyclables and hazardous waste does not end up in our landfill.

Garbage Stickers

All garbage bags (curbside and dropped at waste sites) must have a blue municipal garbage tag affixed. Tags are available at:

  • Township Office (Barry’s Bay)
  • Barry’s Bay MacEwan
  • Barry’s Bay Shell
  • Barry’s Bay Ultramar
  • Herron’s Store (Barry’s Bay)
  • CO Country Market (Combermere)

Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is the dumping of waste anywhere except approved waste disposal sites. This includes in the bush, along the road, on private property, and at the gate of a waste site. Incidents are investigated by By-Law and offenders will be fined.

Brush Drop Off

The Township allows for free brush drop off at the Bark Lake Waste Disposal Site. Brush is accepted year round during regular operating hours.
