Fire Danger Meter
The Fire Danger Meter is adjusted throughout the year based on the season and weather conditions. No matter what the time of year or conditions outside, always check the fire status before you burn!
When the meter is GREEN, low/moderate daytime burning is allowed. The meter is typically green outside of wildfire season, from November 1 - March 31, though some exceptions apply.
When the meter is YELLOW, night burning only is permitted. Campfires are allowed and permits are issued for burning of brush or other wood materials. The meter is typically yellow during wildfire season from April 1 - October 31, though exceptions apply.
When the meter is ORANGE, a Level 1 Fire Ban is in place and burn permits are suspended. Campfires are permitted, and must only be burned at night and stay within two feet square in size.
When the meter is RED, a Total Fire Ban is in place. No open flames of any kind are permitted, including campfires and fireworks.
Burn Permits
Burn Permits are issued seasonally for certain fires. Learn more about when you need to apply for a permit, and how to prepare for your burn.
