Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It’s an easy-to-use medical device that can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. Numerous municipal buildings are equipped with indoor AEDs:

  • Municipal Office – 85 Bay Street in Barry’s Bay
  • Madawaska Valley Visitor’s Centre (Railway Station) – 19503 Opeongo Line in Barry’s Bay
  • Paul J Yakabuski Community Centre – 65 Arena Road in Barry’s Bay
  • Madawaska Valley Public Library – 19474 Opeongo Line in Barry’s Bay
  • Combermere Community Centre – 1095 Farmer Road in Combermere
  • Combermere Outdoor Rink – 1095 Farmer Road in Combermere

The Madawaska Valley Fire Department is also equipped with AEDs.
