Marriage Licence

The Clerk's Offices issues marriage licenses on behalf of the Province of Ontario. A license is valid for three months from the date it is issued, and only registered or civil marriage officiants can perform marriages in Ontario.

Lottery Licenses

Charitable gaming lottery licences are issued by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and by municipalities in Ontario. Apply at the Clerk's Office for the below types of licenses:

  • bingo events, with prize boards of up to $5,500
  • media or merchandise bingo events
  • break open tickets for local organizations where they are not to be sold in conjunction with another gaming event
  • raffle lotteries for total prizes up to $50,000
  • bazaar lotteries which include wheels of fortune with a maximum bet of $2
  • blanket raffle lotteries

Contact the Clerk's Office to apply for a license for the above types of lotteries. Visit AGCO's website for details on how to apply for all other types of licenses.

Death Registration

The Clerk's Office accepts Medical Certificates of Death and Statements of Death from Funeral Directors and/or medical professionals. The documents are recorded, and forwarded to the provincial Office of the Registrar General for registration.

A Certificate of Death is a permanent, legal record of the death of an individual and can only be obtained by contacting Service Ontario.
