UPDATED MVFD Fighting a Bushfire off Highway 62

The Madawaska Valley Fire Department is currently fighting a fire in the bush off Highway 62 between Combermere and Barry's Bay.

The fire has been burning since yesterday and is contained on three sides. The MVFD anticipate the fire to be contained by this afternoon. The fire has burned 60 acres on private property and no structures are at risk. While the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has been notified, their assistance is not required at this time.

The MVFD is reporting that the fire is completely contained and the team is currently extinguishing hot spots. The fire department anticipates they will be able to clear the scene by the end of the day.

The fire off Highway 62 is out and the fire department is clearing the scene. A total of 66 acres burned over the course of the past 24 hours.
