OPP Billing Returning to General Levy
At February's Regular Council Meeting, the Treasurer announced that OPP billing would return to the general levy.
In 2024, Council opted to remove the OPP Billing costs from the tax levy and apply it equally to each property in the Township. The OPP Levy was therefore created and applied as a separate charge on tax bills in August 2025. Following public comments and concerns, legal guidance was sought and it was found that this levy is non-permissible under the Municipal Act. The municipality will therefore be crediting the OPP levy on August 2026 bills, and reapplying it as a tax rate on the same bill.
