Inspections
The Ontario Building Code requires builders to give notice to the Chief Building Official when your building is ready for mandatory inspections at each critical stage of construction.
When Inspections are Required
Depending on the type of project, multiple inspections may need to take place at various stages of construction. Generally, inspections are required for the following:
New Home, Addition, or Commercial Buildings |
|
Renovation to existing structure (residential or commercial) |
|
Garage or Accessory Building |
|
Fuel Burning Appliance |
|
Pool, Deck, Porch, or Gazebo |
|
Refer to the bottom portion of your building permit for inspection information specific to your project and permit.
Requesting an Inspection
Inspections are conducted Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. It is your responsibility to contact the Building Department to make an appointment for inspection, and a minimum of 48 hours notice is required.
Contact the Chief Building Official via email or by phone at 613-756-2747 x216 to make an appointment.
