Reduced Load Limits in Effect

Section 122 (7) of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, provides that the Municipal Corporation or other authority having jurisdiction over a highway, may by By-Law, designate the date on which a reduced load period shall start or end, and the highway or portion thereof, under its jurisdiction to which the designation applies.

The provisions of Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act shall also apply to various roads under the jurisdiction of the Township of Madawaska Valley at such other times that may be deemed necessary by the Operations Manager.

This By-Law shall become effective between the period of March 1 and May 31 of each year and once appropriate Reduced Load Limit signage has been erected in a conspicuous place.

Load restrictions in 2024 are in effect from Monday, March 4, 2024 at 12:01 a.m. until Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12:01 a.m., unless otherwise notified. Vehicle loads will be restricted to 5 tonnes per axle on the roads where signs have been erected.

Roads within the Township with this restriction include:
-County Road 66 (Wilno South Road)
-County Road 68 (Rockingham/Letterkenny Road) from Fran Stell Drive to County Road 66 (Opeongo Road North)
-County Road 69 (Dunn Street/Siberia Road) from St. Francis Memorial Drive to Bangor Line
-County Road 517 (Dafoe Road) from County Road 62 (Combermere Road) to Carlow/Mayo Township Boundary
