At their Annual General Meeting on January 9, the Barry’s Bay Business Improvement Area (BIA) Board elected nine new members to join existing members Neil O’Reilly, Debbie Marshall, and Marcia Rutledge. The election of new members comes as longtime members Derek Yuill, Ted Williamson, and Val Manion stepped down after ten years serving on the Board. Council and Township Staff are grateful for their decade of service to the community through the BIA, which focusses on beautification and promotion of the Barry’s Bay downtown core.

The BIA elects a new membership every four years, in tandem with the municipal election cycle. The BIA is funded by its own members, gathering an extra tax levy from commercial property owners in the BIA area to fund beautification and promotion projects. The BIA is a Council-recognized Community Group, with a member of Council and staff attending meetings and reporting on their projects and efforts to Council and the greater community.
