Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

The Township of Madawaska Valley has received the green light to open with restrictions. Even though we have the green light, we ask our residents to proceed with caution as there are still active cases of COVID-19 in our community. Please follow the guidelines of Public Health. To our seasonal residents and visitors from regions that are still under a Stay Home order, we miss you and understand that you are staying home to keep us all safe. We will see you when you get the green light to travel again.

Municipal Office

The Township Office is open to the public, with Public Health guidelines and restrictions in place.  We encourage the public to make an appointment before attending the Municipal Office. Please call 613-756-2747 to schedule an appointment or visit our website at www.madawaskavalley.ca for contact or update information. Please include your name, subject matter, civic address, and telephone number when leaving a message.

Payments & Envelopes

Payment options include: paying at a bank, online or telephone banking, mailing a cheque, or dropping payment off at the Township Office in the secure drop box at 85 Bay Street (a receipt can be mailed if requested at the time of payment). Payments, correspondence, or parcels, can be left at the drop box located to the left of the front door. A drop box is also available at the back door for larger envelopes and documents.

Building Department

Our building department and planning staff are extremely busy; they accept applications and conduct inspections, so please book an appointment with them before coming to the office.

Public Water Taps

Public water taps have been closed due to advice from public health.

Public Wifi

Public WiFi remains available outside the Railway Station (it is currently closed for the season).

Madawaska Valley Public Library

Waste Site Hours

Waste Site hours and services remain the same.  Please ensure you have your bags tagged before bring them to the landfill.

Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre

The Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre has had the ice removed due to COVID-19 and the restrictions in place.  The outdoor rink is available to be used with Public Health restrictions in place.

Ministry of Transportation Drive Test at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre is held the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Closed from 12:00 to 1:00 for lunch). Outdoor Rinks

The Combermere Outdoor Rink and the Barry’s Bay Outdoor Rink will remain open depending on the weather. Ice conditions will be posted at each rink advising if closed or open-please adhere to postings. It is recommended to mask outdoors if within 2 metres of someone else. At the time of this report, the Provincial COVID 19 lockdown permits outdoor rinks to remain open with a Maximum of 25 people on the ice at one time. This may change based on additional restrictions or guidance of Public Health. Due to lockdown monitored rinks will be doing contact tracing. Users are responsible to not enter an area with more than the maximum number of people outlined above. Team sports, or other sports or games where people may come within two meters of each other, are not practiced or played within the amenity (hockey nets have been removed)
